Weekly Update 8/28/20

Wilshire/Rodeo Station

Station excavation in progress beneath Wilshire.

The contractor continues excavating the future Rodeo station below the concrete deck panels on Wilshire. This work is expected to last through the first quarter of 2021. Excavation from deck openings and hauling material from the job site may occur from 7 am to 4 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to 6 pm on weekends. Excavation may occur underground 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

South Reeves remains closed at Wilshire.

Over the last few months, the contractor has relocated utilities, installed dewatering wells, installed piles and steel beams, and replaced the street surface on Wilshire between Crescent and El Camino with concrete deck panels. Excavation of the station box will continue below ground over the next several months.

Meanwhile, the contractor continues installing steel beams and concrete deck panels near the future station entrance at South Reeves and Wilshire. The street will remain closed at Wilshire, though access will be provided to the parking garage at 9420 Wilshire.

Geotechnical instrumentation being installed in Beverly Hills.

Geotechnical instruments are being installed within the station box and along the tunnel alignment to monitor ground movement, settlement, and other geological conditions. Upcoming areas include Wilshire between Doheny and La Cienega. This work will include intermittent closures of traffic lanes, sidewalks, crosswalks, and parking meters. Work hours will be weekdays from 7 am to 4 pm on Wilshire.

Wilshire/La Cienega Station

Closures anticipated near Wilshire.

The following closures* are scheduled to take place during the upcoming week:

  • North Gale will be closed from 4 am to 6 pm on weekdays and Saturday.
  • Eastbound Wilshire will be intermittently reduced to one lane between Stanley and Gale or between Gale and San Vicente from 9 am to 4 pm and 10 pm to 7 am on weekdays, and from 4 am to 4 pm on Saturday.

Please use alternative routes and continue to respect construction barriers and detours for your safety.

Wilshire lane closures near La Cienega to be removed next weekend.

For the last several weeks, Wilshire has been reduced to two lanes in each direction from Hamilton to San Vicente. K-rail barriers have been in place 24 hours a day. Next weekend, the contractor will remove the K-rail barriers and reopen the traffic lanes.

Lane closures expected on Wilshire and San Vicente.

Beginning August 30, the contractor will perform potholing and grouting work at the intersection of Wilshire and San Vicente. K-rail barriers will be in place 24 hours a day at the intersection through at least October. This work will require closures of traffic lanes on San Vicente and Wilshire, including directional closures on some weekends. Residents are encouraged to contact the project team at purpleline@beverlyhills.org or (310) 285-2467 for more information.
